Elated with joy, I stepped inside
that slippery rink that glowed with pride.
Like a child whose wishes came true that night,
I beamed silently, I almost cried.
I held the siderails, trying with might
as I gathered my balance
I tried, alright.
(But fight or fright, it was to me, a delight!)
I skid, and sled, swang and spun,
towards the ground I was on the run
ached my leg, my hand, my flat-faced bun,
I didn't care, I had just begun.
Sweet-faced she was, a lady, she came,
gracefully prancing, the ice she tamed.
a pro she was, she mutely proclaimed
as she danced to the tune of her own skating game.
Once I fell, she came up to me
Like she felt my pain, I could only agree.
I was out of tune, I had bruised my knee,
But she smiled and said, 'this is how it should be.
I stood up, and skid, and sled and spun,
around the rink, I was on the run
Had I fallen again, I had lost to none.
For I didn't care, I was having fun.
A dream come true, my boat has sailed
as I was slowly living my childhood grail
my little story, my little tale
my memory to remember, in all detail.
My four-leaved clovers showed up tonight! (or maybe it was just Ganesha, the Hindu god of luck who sat beside me today at work, hehe.) My task at the Phonathon is becoming less of a job lately as I have been having less and less rude callers everyday. Yay! Tonight has been amazing for me with 11 pledges worth 470 US Dollars. OMG. That's like a roundtrip ticket and a four-star hotel stay at Miami Florida! I could not believe it myself. My recepients kept saying yes, and I wasn't even pleading yet. OMG. Wow. ;)
I cant believe I'm actually gonna miss working tomorrow. No regrets though, Mom's on her way catching up on our time zone! haha, she's actually coming over this wednesday! yippee, hopefully we'd go sightseeing in DC. hehe hidden intentions! ;)
PS: I'm all giddy with a new project I started today. It's going to be a masterpiece home deco in my future Jetsetter Palace. hehehe. I wont tell yet, I have to get home before I get it done, but I'm so excited!!! :))
Just before settling down to work, I jammed my water bottle with chunks of lemon as I prayed to God for work to be "okay" today. Lucky charm or not, it helped me do pretty well. I was able to score 78 callbacks and an unbelievable feat of 65$!!! Way to go for the negative vibe that possessed me yesterday, hahaha.
I got a hodgepodge of callers today - one for every insurance company.
1. I got a MAD woman:
Fay: "Hi Ms. P! This is Fay Irene Gurrea - Im calling from Georgian Court University ----"
*dialtone. She hung up on me. I called back.*
Fay: "Hi Ms. P! Im sorry I lost you. This is Fay Irene Gurrea - Im calling from Georgian Court University ----"
Ms. P interrupts: "Do you know why I didn't take your first call?"
Fay: "No, maam. Why?"
Ms. P sounds pissed: "I paid for college, I had 3 kids and my husband was out of state. Georgian Court did not make it any easier for me. They did not let me graduate soon. I will never donate to Georgian Court University."
Fay: "I'm sorry to hear that. Is there any way we could help you?"
Ms. P sounds even more pissed: "NO. Just write this down. Georgian Court did not do anything to help me as a woman. Write this down. Georgian Court didn't do anything to help me as a woman."
Fay: "Im so sorry to hear that. I will surely have your concerns addressed."
Ms. P pissed still: "I don't want any more calls from GCU. Goodbye."
Unfortunately, I had to write a big note that said MAD on her call sheet.
2. I got a sick lady, but she was very sweet for somebody not feeling well. Hope you get well soon, Ms. C.!
3. I called a Ms. M. three times and for those three calls I talked to her hubby who sounded so nice over the phone. awww... lucky wife. I called another husband, and he was so polite to whisper to me over the phone:
"My wife is fast asleep. I dont want to wake her up. Would you mind calling some other time? Would you like to have her office number?... Alrighty. Have a good night now. Buh-bye."
And thats all in very soft whispers I had to listen very closely just to hear.
Some people were just amazing.
Weird calls and Funny Dials. One of our "co-workers" had to dial a wrong number. She dialed 911 instead of 411. Twice. Security people came bombarding us, checking for emergency.
Oooops. Sorry officers. :0
It's been a long day today, but it's been ridiculously charming. I seem to can't stop smiling.
I guess it just takes a lemonade to bring out that beginner's luck! ;)
Sigh. I just came home from my first three hours on the job and I feel so depressed. I'm part of this year's Annual Phonathon in school, and we're tasked to call up on our alumni and ask them if they would consider giving a gift to their dear alma mater. (euphemism: please $donate$!) It's my first real job, I'm being paid for it, and I just want to do okay.
Sorry for me, "okay" is such a tough goal to score. I was a slowpoke by only calling around 42 people tonight, and the closest I got to a pledge was a grumpy message saying "Not this year. Not this year. Not this year. Bye."
I swear I was using my sweetest voice, but they only spelled 5 letters for me: SORRY. My first call got me rejected right away. Sad.
All I want to do is curl up in one corner and wail. :'(
On the lighter side of things, Ninang Abet paid a visit to us and gave us a whole boutique of winter clothes. Yeeehah! I finally have pajamas! hehehe ;)
A 1 degree celsius forecast didn't warn us enough from trekking through the cedar creek. We were supposed to camp out this weekend, but when our organizer found out about the ice-cold climate, no-can-do! The freezing weather didn't stop us from having an adventure though. Armed with our layered pullovers, tights, and windbreaker jackets, we decided to hop on in and do some canoeing!
Canoeing?!?! Huwaat??? haha! Not in a million years did I picture myself canoeing. (not in the Philippines, at least.) But to hell with the thought, it was one-of-a-kind! Mind you, it was freezing cold when we started out. Our layered fleece and bodice were not enough to keep us warm. All the same, you tend to forget about the weather when your sweating yourself blading in through the water left and right. I was with partner-in-crime Mimi, and we hit the curbs like pros!!! joke. It was a three hour battle with the gentle ripples of the stream, the soft whispers of the wind, and the constant slapping of the branches! Yeeeeeouch!!! hahaha. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking though. With fancy tangerine leaves falling down on you, you couldn't help but feel like a Disney princess - layered with sweat (exagg haha) and thick fleece of course!
Thankfully, singing Kiss the Girl and Part of Your World didn't cause us to tip over and fall off! It would have been a great disaster if we did, it was freezing out there!
If I had pictures, I'm sure it would have been priceless.
PS: I've been having a lot of firsts lately, and its been *bewitching!

Went to Target, and went to GCU to check in. we then went back to South Amboy to attend a party (an Ilonggo party I must say!) and then Tita Abet had some friends over to help get our stuff up in our dorm. grabe, they drove us all the way here at Lakewood. People are so welcoming here its so hard to not feel so loved! haay, super thanks to God tlaga!
Jersey Girls Day 3. Yebbah!!! You wouldnt believe how many things we did this day!!! It first started off by a visit to St Joe's so we would know what to expect and what things to bring here in the dorm (after eating a homey breakfast by ninang abet of course). Come 2:30, we went up North and ate at Ruby Tuesday for lunch and after filling our tummies to the brim, we went for a quick window shopping at the Jersey Gardens Mall (Its the biggest outlet mall in Jersey!). *on abstain mode: no stuff bought* We then headed off to West Orange to visit Am's. and guess where they took us?!! NYC The Big Apple!!! Hiyyey! May navigator pa kmi sa car, astig!!! naka GPS, and its so accurate by the house number! So cool. Nagagalit pa nga pagdi sinusunod. lol. Ate at Bubba Gump Times Square.. sobrang pabusog again!!! (At makwento pa ang waiter namin, that trivia guy!)It was so much fun we had to miss Am's curfew! hahaha. And as evidenced, as much as I wanted to update my multiply every night, I couldnt! It was so much fun in a day there was no time to write!
Jersey Girls Day1 and 2. In Offline Journal. For my consumption hahaha, so many bloggies to update, so tiring!!! Kaya copy paste na to.
